Very important article. People do not realize that the thing that keeps us alive is the planet. So, Johnny you realize if the planet burns then you would burn too? I do not understand why people need to be so negative. The Earth gives and preserves life, people should be grateful.

I absolutely agree, I care about recycling a lot but have not participated here at SCAD yet because other people in my building informed me the recycling bins just get taken the same place as the regular trash because people don't put the proper materials in the recycling bins. Let's get a few signs and fliers to inform people and guide the process and use those blue bins instead of letting them sit there as decorations. I expect more from SCAD, we're supposed to be cutting-edge and we aren't even recycling yet.

Great article! The lack of knowledge about and care given to recycling in this community is really disheartening. I'm disgusted that it's taken THIS long for SCAD and the city of Savannah to implement the programs they do have.

And 'greenish', why are you being so negative? She made a perfectly factual statement. Obviously this college has the financial and personnel resources to establish dorm-wide recycling without the assistance of a business/ school city recycling program. Is the college's failure to do so for over a YEAR something you want to defend?? Especially when, as the article states, our bins are either underused or incorrectly used by SCAD students and staff members?

You wrote, "it took them almost a year after the city of Savannah started using single-stream recycling to implement the use of it in their residence hall complexes."

I'm not sure this is an accurate or deserved criticism. The city program mentioned is for individual residential customers. The city does not currently offer wide-scale single stream recycling to businesses, schools or colleges like SCAD. I've heard that may be available in the future. Still, to say SCAD has lagged behind a city program that does not yet even exist isn't really fair, is it?
