In preparation for this year’s SCAD Fashion Show, senior fashion students had the opportunity to work under the mentorship of some of the biggest names in the industry.
This year’s mentors included acclaimed fashion designers Chris Benz and Christian Cota in Savannah, and Rachel Roy in Atlanta.
Benz graduated from Parsons School of Design in 2004 with the Council of Fashion Designers’ Emerging Designer Award under his belt.
He has worked with Marc Jacobs and J. Crew and in 2007, Benz released his first ready-to-wear collection at New York Fashion Week. The collection was a hit and Benz continues to enjoy success.
District news editor Micco Caporale sat down with Benz to discuss his role as a mentor and his advice for entering the fashion industry.
The SCAD Fashion Show will be hosted at Trustees Theater on May 21 at 4 p.m. and 8 p.m.
