Skinny Cow has recently added candies to their list of ice cream treats. Dreamy clusters are one of their new candy products that only have 120 calories per bag. I decided to try these “dreamy” clusters after seeing the commercial. I wanted to see if they were as dreamy as they claimed.
My final consensus—they were much better than I expected, but not as dreamy as they made it seem on the ridiculous commercial. I could hardly tell that they were only 120 calories. Whenever sweets have less sugar, fewer calories, or anything like that, I am a little hesitant. But, these healthful treats far surpassed my expectations.
The bag contained six, albeit small, dreamy clusters. The dreamy cluster itself is described on the package as “crunchy crisps and creamy caramel drenched in milk chocolate.” What it reminded me of was a turtle cluster minus the pecans.
The milk chocolate dreamy clusters that I tried have 120 calories, six grams of fat, 20 grams of carbohydrates and one gram of protein. That’s for the six chocolates that come in the bag, not bad if you ask me. Dreamy clusters’ not so healthful counter part would be a turtle cluster. Nestlé’s turtles contain 240 calories, 14 grams of fat, 30 carbohydrates and three grams of protein for only three clusters.
Skinny Cow’s alternative to a turtle cluster is equally delicious with only half the calories. Skinny Cow is also owned by Nestlé, so this must be their attempt at making a more healthful product. Although, Skinny Cow does seem to be an odd name for a product. Why would anyone want to think of themselves as a skinny cow?
How do they make it taste so good, but have such few calories? When I looked on the package I noticed that most of the dairy products they used were nonfat. They also used wheat flour instead of regular flour. However, Nestlé’s turtles use regular milk instead of nonfat milk. So, maybe that’s how they do it; they use nonfat dairy whenever possible.
However they do it—it works. I would recommend trying Skinny Cow’s products. I have never tried their ice cream products, but after trying one of the candies, I will be trying them in the future. With these healthful candies and ice cream treats, you don’t have to not eat a sweet to maintain your figure—you can eat a Skinny Cow treat instead. I guess it’s better to be a skinny cow than a fat cow?Contact Augusta Statz.
